Welcome from Jo Morgan, Chief Executive, Shaw Education Trust

Thank you for your interest in Shaw Education Trust. We are a growing multi academy trust which places high achievement at the heart of all we do. We are determined that no child attending a Shaw Education Trust Academy should have their opportunities limited by their background, or by their ability.
We are sponsored by a charity and focused on harnessing the power of people to affect positive change for youngsters. We work with children, leaders and teachers to create the very best opportunities for all their futures.

There is no better, nor more rewarding job than teaching – no greater buzz than watching children achieve beyond their own expectation. The joy of celebrating the inconceivable and accomplishing the incredible cannot be beaten.

Far too often education becomes competitive; combative and fear driven. At Shaw Education Trust we do not believe it should be that way – we believe that great strength comes from co-operation and working together.

As a former secondary headteacher I have been privileged to lead teams of excellent teachers and senior leaders who have worked innovatively and tirelessly to provide the best possible teaching and learning to students. This should be the norm not the exception; an excellent education in a supportive environment is what every student attending one of our academies will experience. Central to this is the support we provide to senior leaders and teachers to continually develop their knowledge and practice. We offer high quality training plus research-based opportunities.

Our learning community is further enhanced by ensuring that we have a mix of academies within our Trust. This allows us to create a community of professionals with a wide range of valuable experience and specialist knowledge. Rich collaborative opportunities are offered to students and staff alike working across our Trust.

Working as an Ofsted Regional Director prior to joining Shaw Education Trust, I saw time and again how strong relationships with, and accountability to, families and other local stakeholders are key to schools’ success. Our MAT structure ensures there is local accountability and transparency within each of our academies, with support, challenge and oversight provided by the MAT Board.

While we value each day we have with students we recognise that our academies are just one step in their educational journey. Our academies accept their responsibility to make sure every student is equipped to take the right next step, offering a range of support that addresses life beyond school, develops students’ independence and helps them to prepare for university and the world of work.
