Summer 2022 newsletter
The summer holidays are approaching fast, but there is still so much going on at Fortis Academy that we’d love to share with you.
In this final half-term, we are pleased to see the return of work experience for year 12. Mr Bannerman and the team in our Careers and Guidance “Next Steps Hub” have supported students into many exciting settings, and we wish them all well.
Also returning after a two-year pause and a LOT of excitement, is our School Production, The Addams Family We promise singing, dancing and spoooOOOOoooky comedy, with a limited run from 13-15 July (ticketing details coming soon). Meanwhile, have a look at our cast and crew interviews and our production blog.
We also feature our Eco-Committee and our Duke of Edinburgh group, who have recently taken part in an expedition.
Our sports teams have again been highly successful, with Mr Harper keeping us up to speed with our sporting bulletin, and a report on the expedition. We are delighted to welcome the Commonwealth Games Team of Australia to our site, who have been making use of our Sports Hall for their base in preparation for the Games.
June is Pride month, and we are delighted to feature an article by our Equality Experts group about the ways in which we are continuing to celebrate our diversity.
We would love your feedback so we can support our students better. Parents and families at Fortis Academy have been emailed the link to our summer survey – please fill it in. If you haven’t had the link by email, please tell us so we can update your details.
Finally, at this time of year, we give our best wishes to students and families during exams season. This has been a challenging time for students, but even more than usual following that two-year pause. We are incredibly proud of all our students as they show their skills and abilities in their exams.
We hope you enjoy this newsletter and that you share it far and wide.
